Bearing Witness is made using antique wooden organ pipes. For over 150 these pipes have absorbed and conducted sound. Now discarded, the pipes have lost their ability to conduct but what sounds have they absorbed? When played, an organ is powerful and leads the congregation. When not played, it sits quietly, often unnoticed, bearing witness to the human condition - absorbing sounds of joy, sorrow, celebration, grief. Sounds collected from people in church are played as part of the installation.
